Welcome to my research home page.

I study the earth's carbon and water cycles, and particularly the effects of global warming and other human impacts. With Inez Fung and collaborators, I'm involved in the Keck Hydrowatch Project, which will deploy sensor networks that promise to provide new insights into forest water flow. My Caltech Ph.D. work focused on (1) the distribution of gas (primarily carbon dioxide) molecules and isotopes that results from mixing in the atmosphere and ocean and (2) the effect of climate change on forests and ocean circulation. (View my dissertation.)
